Today Reuters and CNN Money came out with an article over President's Trump's controversial comments over the last two days in which he attacked professional sports players for taking a knee during pregame renditions of the Star Spangled Banner. On Friday night during a political rally, he called for football players to be fired and "get that son of a bitch off the field" for "disrespecting" the flag.  Today via Twitter, he renewed his attacks but this time taking aim at the NBA and basketball star Stephen Curry. Trump rescinded a invitation to the Golden State Warriors due to Stephen Curry's "vote" against a White House visit. In light of these comments, NFL Commissioner Robert Goodell, NBA and NFL players came out with statements of their own condemning Trump's controversial comments. They accused Trump of trying to cause divisiveness about among team owners and players. However, he also renewed the their rights as citizens. Players have a right to exercise their right to freedom of speech and expression as it's a their constitutional right. Trump also called on fans to protest games if players took a knee. Thus, also attempting to cause divisiveness players and fans.

Both of these articles are worth reading and CNN Money made the argument in which Trump made a  "us versus them" comment with racially bias undertones. It's makes for an interesting read when the President of the United States interjects himself into the personal decisions of professional sports players who choose to exercise their rights under the 1st Amendment. These individuals are't breaking any laws or inciting violence. His call to the NFL and NBA to "fire" players from their jobs simply because Trump doesn't agree with the actions of these players, is mind blogging. Regardless of our opinion on the issue, the US Constitution allows its citizens the right to freedom of speech and the right to protest. To call on sports team owners to trample on a players' constitutional rights and fire them for it, (in my opinion) is discrimination. A United States President shouldn't be encouraging such things. Quite frankly, it's not his place. Trump took an oath to protect the people of United States and defend the Constitution, including the rights of individuals he doesn't agree with. As long as citizens aren't breaking the law or inciting violence, a President shouldn't interject himself into such matters.
